ALLAGASH HEADWATERS LODGE is in the TRUE North Woods of Maine.

Centrally located in more than 3.5 million acres of industrial woodland managed by North Maine Woods Inc. We are more than 60 miles from the nearest town, where the Allagash River begins its journey flowing north to Canada.

This area is renowned for supporting some of the largest-bodied whitetail bucks in the state of Maine, with an average dressed weight exceeding 180 pounds and a local legend that reportedly tipped the scales at 274 pounds. These trophy whitetails are survivors, living through some of the harshest winters in the northeast and thriving in one of the most remote areas east of the Mississippi. Uniquely bordering more than 200,000 acres of state-protected land closed to hunting.

This is Big Woods hunting at its core, and don’t expect to see large numbers of deer. What we lack in numbers, we make up in quality. Our deer are large-bodied and reach an older age due to low hunting pressure. Miles and miles of woods are bisected by a well-maintained land management dirt road system, providing unlimited hunting opportunities.

Truly a unique and REAL hunting experience, roaming a vast wilderness where encountering another hunter is rare. You will experience something unmatched in the modern-day whitetail hunting world.
