OPEN WATER FISHING

More than 90 miles from the town of Allagash, we are in the headwaters where the Allagash River begins and flows north.

Known throughout the country’s sporting world, we are in ALLAGASH COUNTRY!

Abundant fish and game have drawn people from every walk of life to the Allagash for generations. Hunters, anglers and Northwoods explorers, since the 1800’s, have set up their own tent camps or stayed at lumber camps like Chamberlain Farm to experience all that the Allagash has to offer.

Home to the famed Chamberlain, Round Pond/Telos and Big Eagle Lakes. These deep headwater lakes are known for their WILD NATIVE and abundant Brook Trout, Lake Trout and Whitefish.

SPRING ICE-OUT AND EARLY SEASON FISHING

Our season starts in late April or early May, as soon as the ice clears our lakes. The Brook Trout and Lake Trout rise to the surface and feed aggressively for several weeks on rainbow smelt. Often gorging to the point that smelts fall from their mouths while in the net.

Traditional spring fishing consists of trolling and casting streamers, using spoons near the surface from a 21 Scott Boat or Grand Laker can provide non-stop action for these highly sought-after game fish. Brook Trout in the 14” to 18” are the norm, and 20″+ 5 lb. fish are not uncommon, and lake trout exceeding 24” are the norm.

Combined with a hot shore lunch and guide coffee, it will create lasting memories.

Spring fishing and surface action can run through mid-June, at times requiring a couple colors of lead core or sinking fly lines.

Our primary season runs from ice-out until the third week of June and starts again in September for some great fall action with cooling temperatures, fall colors and surface feeding pre-spawn fish.
